Izzet Affinity

Izzet Affinity is named after the affinity mechanic from the original Mirrodin block. Affinity is built around the artifact lands, Which are banned in modern, and some crazy alchemy cards like Landlore Navigator and Drix Interlacer. Affinity gets to leverage two moxen for crazy fast starts, and its goal is to add a large number of permanents to the battlefield quickly and leverage the sheer quantity of virtual cardboard into a win. It is historically held in check in other formats because, while it has busted draws, affinity also has some brutal hate cards to worry about, like Meltdown and Wrath of the Skies, which are board wipes that also destroy a good chunk of your mana base. 

The cards to look for in your opening hand are the following:

• Pinnacle emissary and Weapons Manufacturing turbo charge the plan of adding permanents into play by doubling your artifacts that enter.
• The big payoffs for those permanents in play are Kappa Cannoneer and Arcbound Ravager to turn the permanents into 1 or 2-turn clocks.
• Landlore Navigator is a turbocharged Psychic Frog if you can play two artifacts in a turn.
• Drix interlacer is the alchemy Ancestral Recall for artifacts.
