Gruul Valakut

Gruul Valakut is Historic's representative for the Lands archetype. It plans to amass a critical number of 6+ lands on the battlefield. Scapeshift then becomes a one-card combo easily dealing 20+ damage in conjunction with the namesake Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle. To execute its plan, it alternates between vomiting lands onto the table with some of magic's best ramp and refilling with equally powerful card draw. When not comboing, the deck gets to rely on the uninteractability of lands to crawl to an inevitable win while simultaneously slamming ramp payoffs and bombs. Escaping the inherent slowness of a land-based archetype with its one-turn kill, Valakut manages to be a solid pick for both Bo1 and Bo3. -Fanver
